That's all nice and well but a) some heroes don't choose to be cast in that role a b) surely the depends on the villain and the imminent threat.

I mean sure, if a villain is just about to commit genocide, by all means use deadly force if necessary - but "the people" are not at risk during every confrontation between the hero and the villain, and sometimes simply incapacitating him renders him harmless.

Also, you can't expect people not having a problem with killing just because they're heroes. Could you do it?
