you should probably be looking into numerology if you haven't already, either to crib ideas or make sure you're doing something different. Basic idea is that each letter in a word has an intrinsic value, these values can be combined or added in various ways to produce/deduce meaning. This could probably be extrapolated into a larger or more complicated system through having different functions for different effects, or increasingly more complicated ways of notating something's "true number" (some day I will find a math based magic system that uses concepts more advanced than sigma notation. or mentions the Ackermann numbers. someday.)

Oh I'll look at that , thanks.

I should have thought of that.

I was thinking of creating the whole magic number thing based on my own weird OCD beliefs about numbers partly and maybe other things I pick up for the rest. That probably seems weird ,but hell if I'm stuck with OCD might as well make some use of it.
