I totally understand why gen fans get a pass. Some gen fans, I imagine, might be aromantic or asexual or just not all that interested in shipping to begin with.

I'm like that with some characters -- with Steve Rogers, I'm constantly trying to find great gen fic, but SOOOOO much of it is slash and it just doesn't interest me. (Any recs? *begging pathetically*)

Weirdly, though, for other fandoms (like Star Trek) I'm ALL about the slash. Or there's fandoms where I'm almost exclusively het (Avatar the Last Airbender springs to mind).

The only time I'll really judge someone, though, is if they ship a character with someone who they barely interact with while dismissing other ships with more involved characters as unrealistic or wrong.

I'm writing one with Steve Rogers that isn't romantic, but it IS heavily focused on the Bucky-friendship (also only two chapters up and I do update lowly). But there's that.

Friendship is awesome. I don't know why, but I prefer genfic with Steve.

…This also might be due to the fact that he's so very often shipped with Tony and I can't stand Tony.

I like Tony, I just haven't yet found a slash pair with him that interests me - so, not really interested there either.
