I thought Godzilla was a straight up monster-battle movie. Instead it was turgid boredom until we got to the last act of the movie then got some monster action. The last movie that let me down so badly was the previous promised monster-mash movie, called Monsters. It turned out to be two whiny ass kids trudging through a desert that supposedly had monsters somewhere.

Oh, I hated Monsters because I had the same expectations and got horribly disappointed. It's the reason why I avoided the new Godzilla movie. I had read some interviews from the cast and director saying it was a more "arty" and "dramatic" movie which translated to me "5 seconds of monster screen time."
