Re: Worldbuilding?
(Anonymous) 2014-08-14 12:17 am (UTC)(link)The basic premise was that there are immortals skin-changers (mostly wolves) with some degree of magic who exist in the shadows of the modern world and deal with threats. They live in packs but many of them group up in twos and threes, so it's wasn't too weird. There are other types of peoples in the world that the skin-changers must deal with, and a complicated social structures among the skin-changers. I invented back-histories for a ton of characters and did a bunch of logistics for the world and how the immortals fit into it and were still the characters from fandom (or how the world changed them).
It's kind of funny because now my story might seem a little like a pre-cursor to the all the A/B/O fic, or like I wrote it based off A/B/O, when I really wrote it long before I ever knew about A/B/O. I'm a little bummed out about that since I think some people who might've liked it will be turned off at the similarities to A/B/O, while other people will think it isn't enough like A/B/O and not like it because of that.
Basically I love this world because it incorporated every fandom I've ever loved without anyone needing to die of old age and no one needing to pick one other person to pair up with exclusively. And the packs were tight family units with a lot of love and support. So, it's perfect for crossovers and fix-it fics for happy endings.
