Recs for super-affectionate gen fics

(Anonymous) 2014-08-14 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
SO I spent basically all my fandom-related time for the past three weeks inhaling truckloads of smut, UST, shippy fluff, and angsty romance for my newest OTP. Consequently, I am in a cuddly mood but am totally maxed out on romance for the time being, and therefore have a sudden great hankering for totally unromantic but blatantly affectionate gen fic for a change of pace.

Friendship fics are preferred, but affectionate family relationships or parent-figure affection or even human-pet animal stuff is welcome. I'm not really fussed about the fandom, as long as the fic isn't, like, novel-length.

This author writes a lot of good gen fic for fandoms like Sherlock and Star Trek. http://kcscribbler.livejournal.com/

This might be the sort of thing you're looking for. Fandom is Haven: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8740338/1/Begged-Stolen-and-Borrowed-Time

This describes about 90% of Starsky and Hutch gen fic (because it'd be OOC if they weren't affectionate), but I saw this just recently recced on gensplosion and the depth of the affection in it is just heart-squeezingly amazing.

It also doesn't really need knowledge of the canon to understand and appreciate the fic, so there's that too.

Show Me Fifty Times And I'll Believe You's first chapter with Doofenshmirtz and Perry Platypus. It's one of those fics where it's made of brief sentences to fit a theme before heading to the next one. I'm a gay lord (different from gaylord) so I like it. That's all I can say about it.

Run Program: DUM-E, 11k words. It's MCU, and is written in the perspective of Tony Stark's handy buttmonkey robo pal, DUM-E ♥ Whether or not you interpret the robot as having emotion, you see characters becoming attached to DUM-E and seeing it like a pet friend. Very popular fic, but popular because it's CUTE.

This starts as Derek+Scott pack dynamic meta for the first few paragraphs, but then derails into a full-blown oneshot scenario where Derek decides to be Scott's beta and follow every single one of his orders. What Scott does is essentially send him on happy missions to be happy and functional. It is on tumblr, but it's on a readable tumblr that has readable font.

Teen Wolf, and I guess this technically has pairings but they're only hinted and honestly I didn't even notice them. Mostly just pure fluff, with everyone getting along and cuddle-bonding.
