I hear you.

I've seen too many fangirls who jump on the popular slash pairing bandwagon and automatically think girls are icky and don't want them anywhere near their beloved Sherlock/John or Tony/Steve or Roy/Ed or anyone in Supernatural. It reeks of 'I'm shipping slash because all the cool kids are and I wanna be popular!' in a high school Hot Topic goth phase kind of way.

I mean, I judge het shippers who think slash is icky too, I'm an equal opportunity judger, but I don't think everyone who is into slash is some socially enlightened good person.

For the bajillion people who are going to get their panties in a knot over this comment, yes, I know you genuinely love your slash pairings and you're not trying to be cool. Good for you! I am not talking about you. Calm your tits.

(For the record: I remember figuring out very quickly being a 13x6 and 6x9 shipper that you never, ever tell the other side about it. I was more afraid of the yaoi fans though, those girls were CRAY. Most of them were also in Weiss Kreuz fandom, which convinced me not to touch it with a ten foot pole.)
