honestly, I do think the "Disney Renaissance" movies were a lot better. I don't know if it's the change to 3D animation but something is different. It took me awhile to realize, the older films had so much more adventure, danger, fear of actual death, and well... violence. And that, to me, was so much more exciting. Most of the "recent" Disney movies are too goofy, or just not "epic" enough. The old movies felt so epic, not to mention, they had memorable songs.

I think Hercules was the last wonderful Disney movie (it came out after Mulan, right?). I thought Frozen was stronger in terms of its soundtrack and some more serious themes, but still didn't feel remotely "epic". That epic atmosphere seems gone, won over by child friendly silliness.
