I don't exactly have the opposite problem.

I am a (now) middle-aged man who seems to largely interact with women online. My fandoms are very female, and often women close to my age. But I've been picking up teenage and college-aged girls on my blogroll/flist for ages, and if some are now 30, well, it's been that long--and I'm even older now.

At this point, I've got several literal teenage girls whose tumblrs I read. I'm not trying to be a creeper or anything, that's just kind of who I met. I have this weird...avuncular? feeling about them. Not exactly parental, not a teacher, let's go with avuncular. Now and then I try to say, hey, don't do this stupid thing, I don't need one of my online friends getting herself killed--in a nice way.... But mostly I'm just kind of reading whatever it is they think is funny or that they are sad about.

I don't know how much of it is that I am in some way immature, and how much is that I don't have kids of my own.

That said, if I had to hang out in a fandom really obviously dominated by teenage girls more than occasionally, I'd probably quit it in short order.

That last sentence may have been badly put.

Some teenagers are OK, and their work can actually be really clever and fun to read. But groups of teenagers teenagering around would probably get on my nerves.
