I understand! Usually zombie shows are further removed from the real world so even if they're bleak or scary, there's some separation; it still feels like an escape from reality. However, In the Flesh feels like it could be set in our universe and isn't nearly as far removed from our world and society. The issues and parallels explored in the show aren't always ones you see in zombie stories too; at least not in the same context. It is a tough thing to watch because it is so earnest and feels so truthful, but that's exactly what's going to make it a big no no for some people.

Frankly, I don't think I could take watching too many shows that were that melancholy, but it was the right combination of things I liked, and it hit hard on an emotional scale and I needed that at the time. It's perfectly understandable that you weren't into it, because it's just one of those things that some people aren't going to like. It isn't the kind of show you would watch any old time, it's just too weighty.
