I find it disappointing (to say the least) when Christians think that emulating Christ means developing a big ol' martyr complex.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-14 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Same. It seems to be taking the wrong message from Christianity altogether. Unfortunately, people like making martyrs out of themselves and being the underdog, which is why you still get people in the U.S. throwing tantrums about nonsense like the "War on Christmas" or "removing God from schools".

(Anonymous) 2014-08-15 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
...it doesn't? Least, it's not Christ they're emulating, at any rate. And most of them who do take that attitude (problem) need to be smacked down with God's epic speech from the latter half of the book of Job. (I refer to God's speech to Job.) Er. IMNSHO.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-15 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
That's been Christians since the dawn of Christianity. Historical fact.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-14 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
But Christians are oppressed in Hollywood. Not as oppressed as Muslims or Atheists, but still oppressed. We all know who is ruling Hollywood, don't pretend otherwise. And unless you're one of them, things will be hard for you.

I know what you are hinting at, and I think it is dangerous to even hint. They have long memories, and longer reach, one day they will come for you even for hinting like that. Seriously, Disney's lawyers are relentless.

First: why would he have wanted to be in either of those messes.

Second: I figured he wasn't invited cause I've always heard he was an ass.

Honestly, his complaints support my belief.

Just try to ignore him, it's what I do so I can still enjoy my cheesy old show.

Sometimes celebs get bitter when they get older and they don't have much going on. His best days are behind him so now he has to rant about it.

IMDB cites over a dozen credits for him in production or post-production. It probably would help if he didn't give his time to wanky propaganda flicks like "God's Not Dead" and "Let the Lion Roar." His complaints sound so similar to whining by Maher, Cameron, and the Randoids that their cinematic screeds are unwatchable and tiresome rather than Birth of a Nation for the 21st century.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-15 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
whining about how Christians are treated

And there goes whatever shred of respect I had for him in the old days. Sigh.

A little OT: Has anyone watched God's Not Dead? I recently procured it for a bad movie marathon and my expectations are pretty high with regard to its terribleness.

I had no idea he was even a Christian. What I always knew was even back in the '90s, when I was watching both Herc and Xena, that Kevin Sorbo had all the personality and charisma of a moldy piece of cheese. Most boring and least interesting character on his own show. That's why he has no career beyond bits of this and that.

I get so much secondhand embarrassment from Christians claiming to be persecuted in the US.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-15 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Didn't he do that "God is Dead" movie? Or is it "God is Not Dead" I honestly can't remember. I saw the trailer and about died from how hilarious it sounded, I think watching the movie would be great with alcohol but I don't want to financially support it.

I do my best to ignore Sorbo after the fiasco that was Andromeda. Gorgeous series ruined by his ego, and he's blaming others for what's happened to his career? Lucy Lawless still gets awesome roles because, as far as I know, she doesn't act like a tool.

I think it's generally accepted that Sorbo is a bit of a twit in general by this point. I try and ignore it and just remember the show that I enjoyed.
