I don't follow Hetalia in the slightest, but wouldn't England/US be Parent/Child?

Almost all nations in Hetalia are twentysomethings, so canon is that England saw himself as America's older brother.

I get that, but at the same time I feel like stories about anthropomorphized countries should get a pass on incest. They'd all be kind of vaguely related if we looked at it too long, I'm sure.

That's why I never shipped it. That, and the canon strained tensions between the two since the Revolutionary War. But I guess for personifications, "incest" isn't a thing? They don't have blood relatives like actual humans.

... Some days I miss getting meta about Hetalia.

Hm, they're basically my OTP in this fandom and I actually like fanworks that address the incesty nature of their relationship, although like Anon above said, it's not quite like human incestuous relationship, what with them being nations and all.

It´s the most popular Hetalia ship, yet I´m the same as you, I think of them as father/son, the same with France/Canada. I like more the idea of Fruk as parents of America and Canada.

Well because it's not incest. And even the big brother figure thing is kind of moot because they outright state that they don't at all see each other that way.

As someone who is legitimately really, really squicked out by incest it is sort of upsetting to see that lobbed at one of my ships when it is factually untrue. So yeah, people do get irritated by that.

Anyway, I have no issue with people not seeing it as anything but platonic or familial. If you want to see them as brotherly, that's fine. It only bugs me when people are like "wow this pairing is so gross" and then are totally okay with pairings with similar dynamics like Spain/Romano (which somehow gets a pass, even though Spain would have spent far more time raising Romano than England would have USA) or even more so, pairings where the characters do canonically actually view each other as brothers in a modern context like USCan and GermanyPrussia.

(Also I can't believe it's 2014 and people are still acting like the entire fandom ships USUK)

I was kind of like that with a lot of the characters, actually. Interactions between younger and older countries in flashbacks come across as too familial. It's weird that USUK is the pairing that tends to get focus for this, maybe because some of the fans can be pretty defensive. A lot of the other popular ships have incestuous vibes. Eventually I just learned to stop thinking of anthropomorphized countries as having family ties at all, makes everything much simpler.

That said, anyone who demands an explanation or gets mad at you for not shipping their ship is probably best ignored.

Just like people who ship England/America are justified. I have nothing against incest except I don't see America/England as brothers, more like England was America's mentor and then England just sort of grew up and learned to walk on his own.

But it's all a matter of viewpoint and each view is valid.
