First of all, I cannot rec thisloser's/forgetme's fic enough. Their fic is just so good and their voices for Kakashi and Gai, particularly Gai, are just fantastic. Easily my favorite writer for KakaGai fic. Fair warning though, they love their angst. Here are some of my favorites of theirs but I really reccommend all of their fic.

I'm with ya, OP. I really wish there was more fanart and fic for this pairing. They've got such fantastic chemistry and their relationship is just beyond awesome, so it disappointing how rare even stuff is that focuses on their friendship is.

And like you sometimes I wish that I could just ship Kakairu, but compared to KakaGai, it is such a boring pairing. It doesn't click with me and I find Iruka to just be generic in every what imaginable.

I want more Kakashi/Gai too. :I

Admittedly, part of it is because I ship Iruka/Anko more than Iruka/Kakashi, but I do legitimately ship Kakashi/Gai too! /grumble grumble

Rare pairs are pretty much non existent in Naruto. If it's not NaruHina, NaruSasu, SasuNaru, SasuSakura or KakaIru then it basically doesn't exist. It's rare I can find a god Naruto/Kakashi or Naruto/Kiba. And Hell I ship Naruto/Juugo, Naruto/Asuma, Naruto/Zabuza, Naruto/MALEKyuubi and those are super hard to find basically non existent

Oh wait let's remember how popular Naruto/Harem is, too. Ugh.

I thought Kakashi/Naruto was a pretty popular pairing. I've seen quite a lot of doujin for it. Also, I wouldn't say if it's not any of those pairings then it's nonexistent. There's pretty large followings for stuff like NejiTen, ShikaTem, Sakura/Akatsuki, SasuHina, etc. But yeah, I get where you're coming from.

Don't forget KakaSaku. That one has a really sizeable fanbase. It's my fav pair~

Well of course Sakura has a lot of pairings that don't make sense since she's the self-insert character.

I've seen a lot of fanart lately, which pleases me. IA that it doesn't get enough love, though.

I LOVE this pairing. Love. But there are almost NO fanworks for it. :(

Way back in '03, when I was teaching abroad, I had a student tell me she shipped KakaIru, and I told her I shipped KakaGai. She looked at me as if I'd grown a second head. (She brought it up, not me, I swear I was not corrupting teenagers.)

I love Gaara/Lee, too, but at least I found a couple of awesome lengthy plotty fics about that one.

Ugggh, that amazing picture. Now I'm gonna spend the rest of the night re-reading what few decent KakaGai fics I know of and looking for new ones. Damn you, OP. That pairing is right up there with KisaIta in the "it's so awesome why is everything available for it awful" category for me.

I feel you. I really like their friendship. I feel it's the healthiest relationship Kakashi has. It definitely deserves more love.

Because KakaIru sucks ass and has NOOOOO backing whatsoever. Though I don't ship it myself, KakaGai has a TON of backing for it.

Too bad fandom likes the pretty boys. Poor Gai.

Man, I don't know what the hell is wrong wth Naruto fandom. Gai is handsome as hell imo. Not to mention with how hard he trains, dude is probably really built under that outfit of his.

Gai really is handsome! Seriously, he's based on Bruce Lee for god's sake. Naruto fandom has no taste.

I don't consider him conventionaly attractive by manga standards, so, next to Iruka, Genma, Kakasi, the main teen characters, Gai is kind of...meh. But I've never found him unattractive. Just a bit too....boisterous for my tastes. But I do like him.

He's not handsome, but his overwhelming charm would excuse a dozen ugly ninjas.
