I never really saw it that way. I never liked Jecht but Auron did see a side to him that Tidus never saw, and I felt like it was important for Tidus to forgive Jecht for his own sake more then anything, and maybe Auron saw that.

Auron was awesome, but I like bitter undead characters. :>

I was always baffled by his arm too, OP!

I thought the point was he was pretending he had a broken arm so things would underestimate him?

Can't say anything about the abuse, haven't played it in a long time.

Keeping Auron's arm free of his sleeve is to show he's a ronin/masterless samurai. Not that FFX uses the term samurai, but that's clearly what Auron is modeled after.

If I remember correctly, Auron's arm thing was a lot like the Ronins/Samuari, which would make sense, as that's pretty much what his job class is. [I read the TVTropes about it, and that's where I got it]

Even though you see his arm in game I always thought that he was hiding a huge scar from when he was murdered. Also because said scarring he couldn't overuse the arm too much.

I like it too much to let it go.

Idk, I haven’t played the game since I was in high school, but I don’t really remember that Tidus’s dad was abusive. I thought he was just kind of absent/overly stern. There’s a lot of room between “star parent” and “abusive” for various levels of “not really a great parent,” and I don't remember Jecht being so terrible that understanding/forgiveness wasn't reasonable.

But I be might misremembering because 16 year old me thought Tidus was a whiny shit so I didn’t really take any of his problems seriously.
