It probably seems exaggerated based on the number of really major characters that he's killed off, as well as for the people who have only seen the show and thus aren't familiar with the numerous characters who have been/are being cut, and the additional deaths that aren't in the books.

Yes, as other anon said, Grenn, but also Pyp, and pretty much everyone that was with Dany when she was with the Dothraki except for Jorah (all her bloodriders and handmaidens), and Jojen. Some non-book characters they gave a lot of screentime to, like Robb's wife (she isn't Jeyne, her name was Talisa).
