I really, really hate the "it makes coding easier" thing. I mean, I understand the sentiment, because coding can be a bitch and a half. But it just comes across as so fucking lazy. Like, you'll sacrifice some really dynamic aspects of a game and insist on a rewrite because you don't wanna do the job you were hired to do? Fuck you, you entitled brat.

I'm not talking about budgetary concerns, though. I'm talking about coders not wanting to do some things because it's difficult. For example, the coders working on Bioshock Infinite repeatedly asked to cut Elizabeth from the game because they were finding it "too hard" to program her. Now, you can say what you want about that game -- lots of people don't like it and their criticisms tend to be spot-on -- but I think you can agree that, to cut her, the game would have had to be completely redone and rewritten, which isn't exactly a cost effective way to do things.
