Ward was boring as fuck until he was revealed to be Hydra though. I hope he stays evil.

Times like these I wish GRRM was the writer of everything, because if there's one thing he loves, it's punishing stupid ;p

If they actually let him back on the team and into nu!SHIELD, they'd all be doomed.

(Seriously though Ward is still the worst character on the show by a mile, even evil!Ward.)

As I said I'm indifferent to Ward but I think I'd prefer this...it's less expected and less boring (in my opinion) if he stays evil. But I got the feeling from day one of it happening that somehow it'll be a double bluff or he'll be redeemed.

In all honesty though a small part of me was mad he didn't just die in the finale. This isn't because I hate him or anything, just that I probably wouldn't notice his absence anyway.

Me too, except it was a large part. He's the worst character on the show, hands down, and if they removed him (and replaced him with someone more interesting) I'd be a lot more excited about Season 2.

OTOH, so long as he doesn't get back together with Skye I won't ragequit.

Oh I'd definitely agree with you on him being the worst character on the show. I just asked my husband who is the worst character on the show and he said Ward as well. He used the phrase "he's just kind of...there"

Urgh do not want. I'm pretty frosty towards Skye as well but she doesn't deserve that level of back-peddle.

Well when the show started he was the Least Believable Field Agent Ever with the personality of a paper bag so I was pretty stoked when the Hydra reveal came out because at least that was something but if the writers intention is "but wait! he wasn't really evil, he just had a sad!" and to put him back on the team after he betrays, murders, and attempts to murder SHIELD and his team...

...I'm not sure I can take that level of asspull. We'll see. I'm secretly hoping someone like Fury ordered them to take him back (if that's where they're going with it) knowing that he's just straight up a Hydra sympathizer to monitor him when he inevitably makes contact with the remnants of Hydra again to root them out. That would be pretty cool.

Man, okay so long as they don't try to asspull some kind of redemption thing that could be fine. But I'm kind of... wary.

The only way I'd be okay with it if it was a gambit to try to get Hydra to contact him while he's being watched closely. Not only would that make it less stupid, but it would also give Ward the chance to choose SHIELD over Hydra for once, which he really hasn't yet.

On the flip side, if they really are just welcoming him back with open arms, he could make an excellent long-game villain.

What if we find out he lost his soul when he had sex with Mai and if they get a gypsy to curse it back in he can be good again?

No, I agree. I was hoping they'd kill him off in the season finale. There is no way in hell I want him anywhere the team again, and I'm not sure I'll ever find a redemption arc for him believable at this point. (I might have had a tiny bit of sympathy up until the point where he threatened to rape Skye, but after that....yeah, no. That scene was just.....ughhh.)

There is no way it could be a double bluff tbh. Not with him killing Agent Hand and trying to kill FitzSimmons (and possibly debilitating Fitz for life oh gog Fitz ;___;). But I DO think they're going to try to write a redemption arc for him, so I hope they make it good (and don't try to pretend he'll ever be "part of the team" again because he fucking won't ugh).

The only way I could accept a redemption arc for Ward is if he never gets back on the team again, and he doesn't get within 100 feet of Skye. Seriously, that scene where he threatened to rape her was so so gross.

well I think he would be within 100 feet of Skye because I think he would put a lot of energy into trying to convince her to get together with him and maybe even go rogue with him. It would definitely be in character. I would start to have a problem if Skye actually went for it. I'm not going to raise my expectations too high, of course...sigh

this! But seriously, for Fitz but also because I adore Saffron Burrows as an actress and I was so happy to think she'd be a semi-regular on a show I was watching. So - missing the point and me apparently but still. Given my way, he'd def be out of the band.

I thought Hand was a really good character too and I genuinely liked her and wanted to see her continue to be awesome by the end of her last episode so I was really disappointed by that :(

His turning out to be Hydra was the only thing that redeemed that show for me. He was so fucking awful in the first half of the season that I refused to learn his name; I just called him Whitebread O'Fay. The less we see of him ever again, the better, and if he does appear, I hope it's only so he can be punched in the face some more.

And no, I do not give any part of a fuck about his abuse backstory. He's worse than evil: he's BORING.

And, you know, I'm sure they're going to go the redemption route, it's just that I'm also sure it will be terrible and cheap. When Jeph Loeb compared Ward to Bucky I knew we were in for some shit.
