I like it when it's productive and has understandable motivations and says something about the character's personalities and shows them resolving their differences and making up (Harry Potter, for example).

Even when this doesn't happen, and it's just baffling and contrived and badly explained, I still like it IF it happens in a piece of media that has/had a big active fandom, and the fans make sure to write reams of fic getting it to make sense and showing detailed analyses and depictions of their motivations and feelings and how they made up (Starsky & Hutch fandom, I will salute you and your brilliant can-do attitude forever.)
