I'm not sure why you're blaming the writers for the fans' reactions. Do you really want them to write something standard and predictable* just so people don't get upset? Do you not realize that fans will latch onto any excuse to raise hell over an issue in fandom? Do you think the writers sat down and said "gee, let's do this because it will get the biggest rise out of everyone"? Your logic is dumb and your vehemence is misplaced, OP.

*yes, I know the "close ally becomes true villain/sidekick" trope is an old and classic one, but it was still a surprising plot twist and created a lot of controversy over this character; they could have done a simple "shoot villains, win day" ending to avoid stirring the pot, but do you really think artistic integrity and plot should be compromised to cater to melodramatic teenagers?

Yeah, fandom will wank over any character if they so much as look at another the wrong way. The only way to avoid it is to have characters who never mess up ever, and even then people will find something to fight and wank about. Look at the Free! fandom.

People who wank over Makoto are so ridic (granted, the case could be made that Makoto messed up by basically latching on to Haru - although Haru doesn't seem to mind at all - but sshhhh).
