Well self actualization is when you have met all your basic needs and can now focus on creative pursuits (and philosophical).

I would assume actualizing a person would be like the Velveteen Rabbit?

That would make the comment from before make even less sense. Why can't I philosophize while I'm hunting for tail?

What, exactly, does "actualize" mean anyway? I mean, I technically know, but what's the really long and thoughtful definition?

It relies on what I would argue is an outmoded and false understanding of the distinction between the false, casual, outward appearance and the underlying hidden authentic truth that must be discovered. So actualizing is a process of drawing out that which is latent and bringing possibilities into being and hidden interiors into the light of day where they can be seen.

Reaching an age and/or level of personal insight and maturity where you can do what you want, you DO do what you want, and you no longer care what other people think/say/do about your doing that.

Taking a dump. Because, like, it's hard to be a complete person when you need to take a dump.

There was a thread yesterday about how gen fics are bad because romance is the only thing that actualizes people.

Everyone recognized it was a troll and then promptly fell for it.
