Re: Time Management Part 2

Yeah, I do a lot of the multitasking thing. I usually watch a show or listen to a podcast or audiobook while I'm playing games unless it's a really narrative heavy game. Generally play a lot on days when I don't have work or friend or family stuff going on. I really only watch movies with other people.

For TV shows I usually watch whatever's easiest to get my hands on (aka: whatever is fully available on Netflix) and I'll watch one show all the way through and then find another. I also listen to podcasts or books while I'm doing chores or driving. And most of the books I read are either old favorites or recommendations I get from podcasts or friends.

But I'm also not that involved in the fandom aspect of things. I have a few blogs on Tumblr and I hang around some places like F!S, but I'm really only half present for most of those. I run one fandom theme blog. I don't read or write fic at all. Don't do art of any kind. I'll make gifs and edits sometimes, but I don't do it unless I already have an idea. I mostly just talk about games and shows with people I already know on teamspeak or AIM.

I guess I mainly just don't do too much that is out of my way or is scheduled. If I have time at the moment and I feel like doing it, I'll do it, but I don't really get involved in fandom things that are guaranteed to take up my time on a regular basis. I do it for fun and to relax and for me that means having the freedom to come and go.

Is that kind of what you wanted?

Yeah, thanks!

I'm just curious about the people who seem to have watched/read everything and are up on all the latest gossip and have a ton of fandom friends to talk to and read/write a ton of fic, and I just wanted to know how they do it all and if it takes as much time as it looks like. I'm also curious how everyone does fandom and real life.

How much time does your blog take? I don't make gifs but I was under the impression that once you know how, it doesn't take long. Is that right?

Yeah, once you've got a system down and you know what you want to do a full gif set will take me maybe... an hour on average if I want to make sure it looks good? Maybe more if I have to convert a particularly large video, but that can run in the background while I'm doing other things. But I only make one if I know what I want to do ahead of time and I feel like it.

The blog I run is a confessions blog, but I just upload a bunch a confessions into the queue that will post automatically over a couple weeks and once it runs low I'll put aside a couple hours every two to three weeks to make more. But it's really just copy-pasting the text into a template and throwing a picture under it and I've already got a large set of pictures that I keep organized, so that doesn't take long either.
