Fenders is actually the most popular pairing in AO3 right after Anders/Hawke and Fenris/Hawke. I was a bit surprised to find that out when I went looking for fic after my first play through.

I've only read Anders/Isabela, which I thought really worked in terms of side ships.

I'd probably only care about reading Isabela/Anyone tbh haha

I really only read gay/lesbian pairings, but I like Lady Hawke/Isabela a lot! I mostly read m/m slash though, but Isabela is my lady of choice when I play as female Hawke in DA2. Merrill is adorable, but too... little-sistery.

Weirdly, I also kind of like Isabela/Fenris as a one night stand. I like how they interact, even though I'm not really interested in het. I don't see them as a "pairing" so much as occasional fuck buddies, but I like the rapport they develop. I never much thought about Isabela/Anders. Maybe Isabela/Aveline would be an interesting pairing?

I love Hawke/Isabela! I just feel like I'd get mad reading one because it's not my Hawke.

I hadn't thought about Isabela/Anders either, but I read this fic and I really ended up liking it.

Oh you know what, I have trouble with, well, most DA2 fic because I don't like reading about other people's Hawkes, who are basically original characters. Most of the fic I really like uses the default names, Marian or Garrett, and that makes it more likeable to me. Or art, I prefer the default looks, or similar to the default looks, anyway.

Haha when I'm m!hawke, I always want to try to romance Anders. But I just keep ending up rivalmancing Fenris omg I can't help it, he and Garrett Hawke are all of my slash fantasies lol

I love Isabela so much but it's really hard for me to get over romances that start as casual sex. It's the main reason that I have a lot of trouble with Zevran and Garrus. Garrus is easier since you get another game with him, and he ends up being one of emotionally closest romances Shepard has, and Zevran you can at least turn down sex and still develop the relationship, but I don't like that it HAS to be about that with Isabela. I want her to be my canon romance, because I love her as a character, but I just don't like her romance path. :(

I did friendmance over rival, because she ended up changing my monogamous lesbian Hawke into "sure I guess we can threesome with Zevran, if you're going to give me THAT face" and I felt pretty satisfied by it. I was just happy the casual sex bisexual option WAS actually bisexual and didn't just talk about it like Jack.

I really, really hated that they made Fenris/Isabella a canon thing when they're not Hawke's LIs. I thought it was incredibly weird and I was very uncomfortable with it (considering how Isabela, keeps teasing and making "lol so hot" comments at him and sexualising him having been a slave and doesn't shut up about it even though he clearly hates it. She, of all people, should have known better.) I really can't understand why they thought that was a good idea.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Fenris/Isabela is only happens if Hawke flirts with both and later breaks it off? I mean, I thought it was kind of particular circumstances?

Yeah, Isabela is super horrible in her comments to Fenris. Especially since it's canon apparently that Danarius sexually abused him, and she makes those sex slave comments and fetishizes his slavery. But no matter how horrible, I don't think Isabela means it badly, she's just teasing, and Fenris must know that. I still disapprove, though.

I felt like their relationship was a great example of us not seeing everything that was going on even with our companions on screen.
