Sparity grosses me out, but I've seen some cute fanart of adult!spike and rarity with children. It doesn't make any sense, since he's a baby dragon and Rarity is like, what, eighteen? But yeah.

Eh, people usually justify it by playing around with the aging mechanics of the characters. Dragons are generally considered to live much longer than ponies, so Spike could still be relatively young by dragon standards even when Rarity is old. It's never really clearly stated how long ponies live or how they age either, the main pony characters are that unstated cartoon age where they act as mature and adult as the plot demands, Rarity could be anything from a teenager to a young adult depending on how you want to interpret it. While Spike is called a baby dragon, he falls into the same category where he is portrayed as mature as the plot needs him to be at any given time.

The aging mechanics of dragons is also wonky as hell, it's not even known if dragons age normally or what, the only aging for dragons they've shown is that they can reach full size immediately if they collect enough stuff, so it gets hard to say what exactly being a baby dragon means as far as physical and mental maturity go, although most fics tend to take place in the future where they are both older anyway, so they play it closer to something like a 30 year old dating a 20 year old.

I would be way more ok with it if it's aged up. I seem to have trouble finding aged up!Spike fics though where it doesn't fall into some other creepy or annoying trope. :|

I'm not into pony stuff at all, but that's really cute!
