Don't let the negative stuff bring you down too much, anon. Everybody makes does bad things in their lives and makes mistakes and knowing about those things doesn't have to invalidate all the good things that they did or the people they inspired.

This. Robin Williams was a good person, and it's only natural to feel grief over his passing, especially under the circumstances. The fact that he might've made mistakes in his life is just human. It doesn't mean he's a bad person.

I think the whole concept fails to take into account the act of synthesis in any creative endeavor. Some people just assume that great media is inventing the wheel when that's just not how creative work is done. Creative work comes from influences, it's how an artist combines them that makes a unique product.
