I know some people have friends that beta read their fics, but I think it's more common to just write on your own. Most people don't have "fact checkers" and "a helper with plot". If you want to write then you gotta do the legwork yourself, too. There's nothing stopping you, is there? So don't feel sad, just get to work and write the fic you want!

Don't take this too personal, OP, but I will never understand people who make and submit secrets -- yet can't be bothered to give them a quick once-over (to, y'know, make sure they didn't write "oair" instead of "pair").

I know an artist has to eat but you don't do that to your readership. It's unprofessional. Not only does it turn off current readers but future readers as well.

I also side eye webcomic artists who have less than ten pages up but have merchandise by the truckful all set up and ready to go. The story hasn't even started and they are already pushing Zazzle merch down the readers' throats. That tells me they are less about the story and more about sell.
