He was also sued by the woman he was cheating on his wife/ mother of his child with because he gave her herpes. That's a lot worse, to me, than stealing jokes.

Wow, really?

I mean, overreaction much?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-22 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Citation please?

(Anonymous) 2014-08-22 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
nayrt, but... did you try Googling? "Robin Williams herpes" brought this up:

http://www.nytimes.com/1992/08/09/style/the-sexes-pillow-talk.html

I know it's easy to demand citations, but if you really want to know, Google it first.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-22 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
No. Demand citations first. Train the person making the claim to always back up their assertions, then you don't even have to google. If more people cited in the first instance, then we'd have less unfounded arguments flying around.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-22 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Well okay. I like to Google first because demanding citations as proof for something that has a bunch of evidence makes me feel like an ignorant tool. But to each his/her own.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-22 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
You're not being an ignorant tool by demanding a cite for provocative claims. The person making those claims is already presupposing you don't know, so it is up to them to provide back up for them. By not providing them, they are being an arrogant douche in just thinking you should accept their word as gospel. Remember extraordinary claims require extraordinary proofs. Never be afraid to demand the person making them back them up, and never think you have to waste your own time doing someone elses fact checking for them.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-22 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
This. I have no problem looking up things if I need/want to, but if a person can't be arsed to back up their claims with even one single link, then I start being suspicious of what the person is claiming.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-22 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
The burden of proof lies on the person making the accusation.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-22 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
+this.

It's not my job to validate an anon's claim on an internet site. They make the claim, they back that shit up.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-22 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Or back up your damn claims with some proof. I don't trust people that refuse to give proof.
