I wrote a couple reviews on my sister's fic with a sockpuppet to make her feel happy that someone was reading it. She and the sock got into a bit of an online friendship, and then I just randomly dropped it because it was too hard to maintain. The sock going away probably made her sadder than if the reviews had never been posted. :(

Nah, this was more than 10 years ago. I doubt she even remembers the login to that account. But she was going through kind of in an emotional time when she had the sock!friend, so I don't think it's a good idea for me to come clean about it. Just for the reason of not wanting to bring up that phase, not that it would really affect her well-being in the here-and-now.

AYRT - Yeah, it's probably better not to then. If it would make her laugh, or roll her eyes even, that'd be one thing - but if it was a really bad time then it's probably better not to say anything.
