The circumstances of Morello stalking someone are very different than the circumstances of a guy stalking a woman. They made a point to show how Morello was obsessed with her appearance, shitty rom-com movies, and the societal expectation that making a guy fall in love with you Pretty Woman style is what validates you as a woman. Guys stalk women because they feel entitled to them. The same culture produces movies where beautiful women fall in love with mediocre dudes because every woman a dude wants to fuck secretly wants him to fuck her, as long as he can press the right sequence of buttons to activate her underlying consent.

It doesn't excuse what Morello did, but I like that they very carefully showed the kind of fucked-up individual that fucked-up messages in popular culture can produce.
