AYRT - I probably phrased this poorly. Yes, there absolutely CAN be heroes and heroines like that - the trouble is that fandom tends to take "she is the best at combat" as "Mary Sue." At the same time, a Mary Sue is adored by almost everyone (and if she isn't, they're Bad People), she has no flaws, and there isn't anything she's not good at. Same with Gary Stus.

Oh, I agree. Heroes that are Stus and Sues do exist, but I think fandom is too quickly to use the term, specially when it comes to female characters.
