Couldn't have put it better, myself. Especially #3.

I actually have been taken to task because I posted a story to a site that requires listing warnings by choosing from a list, and one of the things I chose doesn't happen until the very end of the story. Which people got miffed at, because they thought it would be a main theme.

I usually "Choose Not to Warn" for the very reasons you listed. I understand actual, honest-to-goodness triggers. I have a few, myself. But that doesn't mean I'm going to pass up potentially good movies/shows/books/fanfic because there's no warning label.
