(Anonymous) 2014-08-24 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)LOL no. I can't take that opinion seriously. Liking the pairing is fine. But stop pretending that other fans don't have legitimate reasons to be pissed off.
Re: Fandom Confessions
And, uh. Kirk/Uhura had a thing way back in the '60's. I mean it wasn't a full fledged relationship, but there was definite mutual attraction beyond subtext.
Re: Fandom Confessions
(Anonymous) 2014-08-24 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)But CHRIST are they LOUD.
I read this article the other day:
http://threatquality.com/2013/05/26/dramaturgery-star-trek-into-darkness/
And some Spuhura shipper wrote a HUGE response to a minor aside and said to the author:
“In short, it’s not all about the men only and perhaps you don’t give a shit about the women but these men do and it’s disingenuous to pretend that there is no obvious emotional connection between the members of the opposite sex.”
Just because he made a two sentence remark in his giant essay about Spock and Kirk being the only emotional relationship that even kind of works. And even then, he said it was most likely accidental.
Like, sorry, but having issues with how women are portrayed in the reboots =/= not giving a shit about women.
Re: Fandom Confessions
Kirk and Spock's relationship in that movie only makes sense to me through the "they are so fucking in love" lens.
Re: Fandom Confessions
(Anonymous) 2014-08-24 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)I'm sorry I interpret the scenes differently than they do. But I don't think that justifies their attacks and I'm SICK of it.
