When I was a kid and there was a clown at a street fair or something, I'd always think "that's not a real clown, it's just a person dressed as one."

OMG, the thought of a 'real' clown is terrifying. Wish I could have thought like this as a kid, though; maybe I wouldn't have hid under tables when I saw one. :(

The thing is, I kind of knew "real" clowns were humans, I just thought you only encountered them at circuses or something. I think I thought about them like people whose jobs require a certain uniform, say a police officer, for example. All police officers are humans, but if a regular person puts on a police uniform, that doesn't make them a police officer.

Luckily, I was never scared of clowns. I did think "real" clowns would be kind of creepy, but creepy like a ghost story or something.

Well to be fair, I don't see clowns often, so circuses would be the best place to find one!

That's an interesting way to think of it, though. And true too. I mean, it IS a job...

'REAL' CLOWNS

Why is this SO funny to me.
