(Anonymous) 2014-08-24 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)I don't like Abrams any more than you, and I do love my old!trek, but let's be honest: Nu!Trek does not make our experiences with star trek any less special. It does not replace the old series. It's a new shot at the series and we feel it's a miss, but we've had so much awesome in the series, we are not owed constant non-stop targeted-just-for-us awesome experiences.
TLDR, I feel you, but we're being dumb entitled brats.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-24 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)Like Kirk -- holy Christ. He's NOT a womanizer in TOS. He just…isn't. He treats women with respect -- he doesn't use them. Certainly, unless he was under the influence of something, he wouldn't freaking spy on women while they're changing.
And it makes me angry because…why the hell is motherfucking Bob Orci's opinion of Trek more legitimate than mine? He was a fan for years? SO THE FUCK WHAT! So were other people. And yet we have to sit back and watch him EVISCERATE TOS characters and the themes of the original.
I mean -- it's quite an achievement to make films in 2009 and 2013 that are LESS progressive than a show from the 1960s (to say nothing of the TOS films). It really is.
