Re: what remakes do you prefer to the originals?

Dawn of the Dead. I know, I know, sacrilege, I don't care. I like Romero's Night of the Living Dead, I like Land of the Dead, but the original Dawn is horribly dated at this point. The effects look awful, the characters suck (so does their acting) and the pacing is slower than a Romero zombie.

I've tried to get through Dawn so many times. This summer marked the fifth (maybe sixth?) attempt and subsequent failure, even while pumped up on a two week zombie marathon. :/ Maybe one day...

Day of the Dead is even worse, though I haven't seen the remake of that.
