I bought a Nook SimpleTouch used off somebody for cheap--it wasn't borked or anything, they just didn't care for the look/functionality of it...whereas it's perfect for me. I think the really basic Nooks are pretty cheap even new, and while I think it takes PDFs you can also really easy manage/convert your library with the Calibre ebook manager.

I think it's between seventy and ninety dollars. So it's not bad as electronics go. I have one and like it quite well.
