Also a great resource for matters of emotional abuse. I've used it to help reaffirm and validate my own experiences from time to time. There were also some things my abusers did that I thought were perfectly normal even after realizing that a lot of it wasn't, and this site told me, nope, that's abuse too.

thank you both for the resources, i'm looking through them now. i feel lucky to have noticed something off about my friend's behaviour, but i definitely needed the extra reassurance.

It's okay, anon. Part of what makes it so difficult to leave abusive relationships is the gaslighting:

Someone who's abusive will want you to stay--not because they love you, but because they need you to keep taking their abuse. Gaslighting makes you question your own judgment so that you'll end up relying solely upon the abuser's judgment. It's a way to destroy your trust in your own instincts.
