Nah, you're not. I'm not into Fry sexually as a rule, but man he looks dashing there.

Kind of a tea snob. But I really, really try not to be.

It's mentioned a couple times in the book, I wouldn't say it's a huge plot point. There's a lot going on in American Gods - I think those details could be easily missed.

He's also an incredibly busy person. It seems like he always is doing some project of some sort at all times.

Hmm. GIF snob? Very picky about what I reblog. Food wise, nothing really. I grew up poor and eating cheap food.

Re: What 4chan boards do you frequent?

Used to hang around /a/ and /v/, occasionally peaked into /tg/ or...well, whatever board caught my fancy at the time really. I eventually stopped going though, it hit a point where I decided the tone of the bigger/crazier boards were getting way too hostile for me.

now I go on le reddit because they have actual moderators on a lot of the video game discussion reddits there

They do have a sort of...hypnotic quality.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-28 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
OH. Well when YOU put it LIKE THAT, it totally MAKES MORE SENSE!

Primarily /lit/ for a long time. I still consider it my home board but I don't visit that much anymore. /mu/ occasionally, /ck/ occasionally, /tv/ mostly for Doctor Who threads. And that's pretty much it these days.

I get in spells where I watch a pile of the ZP vids whether I've played the game he's reviewing or not (and most often I don't), and they never fail to make me laugh until I'm crying.

(P.S., I far prefer him over JonTron, who usually feel is trying too hard to be "wacky".)

/co/, but starting to look at /tg/ and /toy/.

But Odin provided only half of his parentage. And his mother was described as black. And you don't even know he's Odin's son until the very end, right? (It's been a while since I read this book)

If this many people missed it, it might have been the way it was written was ambiguous or something.

Do you know where in?

Aaw....

(Anonymous) 2014-08-28 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Now I'm imagining it too. This thought makes me happy. Seriously I am writing head-canon!

When I browsed 4chan, I mostly stuck to /cm/, /jp/, /a/, /co/, and /c/.

Still Lindsay Lohan's best film.

(Anonymous) 2014-08-28 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Going off of memory ... There are thirteen films where they teamed. There may have been a black face scene in one of them. The male/female dynamics were typical of the romantic and or slapstick comedies of their day. As for the rest? People's attitudes were different then. It's okay.

Enjoy the films for what they are ... Beautiful, and don't let other people ruin your enjoyment of them.

Honestly, I'm annoyed by both the blanket dismissal of these movies and the justifications. I love these movies but I don't make any excuses for the problems with them. There were people at the time who understood the problems and I'd like to acknowledge them instead of pretending that no one in the past knew any better.

But I also think a lot of these movies are more progressive than people give them credit for. I'm constantly giving my "history is not a straight line of progress where the further back you go, the worse off everyone is" speech.

The disturbing thing to me was is that she reminded me of a younger version of my mother at times.

I went through a chocolate snob phase, but now, I'm like, "W/E Smooth or not, just give me some chocolate."

I don't think I'm really a snob with anything. I go through phases with things here or there, but there's always a day where I'm broke and I suck it up and get the cheap thing and decide that I'm tired of doing so much work for one thing in particular.

To be totally honest, I just re-read this book recently and I *still* didn't see the 'obvious' description. I am not suggesting that people who got that out of the text are wrong but I feel like I'm being kind of thick about this. I mean, Gaiman's prose is sort of dense and allusive, I don't think missing outon it is a very good social justice litmus test.

If they haven't watched any of their film how does your friend know that the films are homophobic, etc.?
