Aside from the "probably not into women" thing the other anon mentioned, Korra and Asami don't even seem to like each other much. When they spend time together, most of their interactions are explicitly called out as attempts to avoid being awkward. I can see them being friends, now or eventually, but Asami at least is generally friendly with everyone.

Ship them if you want, but no, it really wouldn't make more sense than Zutara.
