First, sorry about your grandfather OP but that's such a bittersweet connection you've got with that film now. I hope you're ok?

I love the MCU too but admit I didn't know what to expect going to see this the first time. It was a fun film but I too was not prepared for the very first scene to hit me so hard. My mum had cancer a few years ago and while she fortunately pulled through, anything in films involving that sort of thing will set me off even years later. Obviously I have no idea how it feels from your POV but I just wanted to say I get you, I suppose.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Heh, yeah, as someone who lost her mom to cancer two years ago last week, I was not remotely prepared for that opening scene.

Saaaaaaame. It was hard to get through.

I had no idea the first scene of Guardians would be that sad, so you have my sympathies, OP. Hopefully you're okay, though I understand if you're still upset. :( Sorry for your loss (and for the movie bringing back unpleasant memories).

Oh man, I'm sorry OP, along with the first scene I can only imagine how hard it must have been to watch. I hope you're doing okay now.

I'm sorry, OP. I lost my step-dad (who was a huge nerd and would have loved that movie) to cancer, and there was a lot of those feelings drummed up by that plot point for me too.

I'm very sorry.

I'm sorry, OP. I lost my dad to cancer a bit over a year ago, and GoTG really hit home in a way I wasn't expecting as well. Damn you, Marvel, for making me feel things!

I lost my dad to cancer and a lot of the music on the mix tape was stuff that he loved, so it got to me too.

*hugs* Sorry for you loss.

i'm really, really glad my friend wants nothing to do with guardians of the galaxy (she's genuinely uninterested) because she lost her mother a few years ago (and is still very, very torn up about scenes involving mothers dying- fruits basket episodes about Haru's mother tear her up every time) and the entire time I was watching that scene I was going 'jesus christ, I hope x doesn't ever see this movie'

so, yeah. sorry OP

I'm sorry for your loss, OP.

When I was eight, my dad passed away from AIDS. He made me several mixed tapes of music he loved. I don't really remember him all that much as I wasn't allowed near him that much around the time he died because he could get sick so easily, but when a certain song comes on the radio, it makes me think of him.
