You are right, in if someone was named Jens Jensen I would have a hard time not finding it at the least amusing, but in other languages it can work.

then again Idun is the most common ketchup brand in Norway, and I once knew a red haired girl that had that name, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out why her parents thought it was a good idea to name their daughter that...

I don't think we have that brand over here, so Idun would just have made me think of apples and spring (because of the goddess). But damn, if the girl had red hair, that's just cruel and shortsighted of her parents!

I'm pretty sure it is only sold in Norway*... Idun is a really pretty name, but if you are Norwegian for the love of Goddesses everywhere do not name your daughter that, seriously even if she isn't red haired.

*And here: http://www.marinamarket.com/istar.asp?a=6&id=105585 why anyone would want a limited time offer on Norwegian ketchup is beyond me, but then again I don't much like ketchup. Even if they do use 2kg tomatoes to make 1kg of ketchup.

Super-late to reply, but one of America's most prolific landscape designers was named Jens Jensen. If you've ever been to Chicago, you've seen his work - he designed the majority of the city park system.
