I nominate Ready Player One by Ernest Cline: The future is a pretty bleak place, unless you're obscenely wealthy, except for OASIS: the virtual community built by a benevolent millionaire who makes it available to everybody free of charge. But he's also instituted a challenge -- and the first person to solve his riddles and complete his challenge based on decades of gaming and pop culture gets to take the reins. The story follows Wade (and some competitors turned friends) as they try to solve it while being hunted by a corporation that would do anything to win, own, and profit from OASIS.
