I like it, because it makes them feel more like real people. Not everyone is going to be bisexual and attracted to every sort of person IRL (not even just in terms of fantasy races but in terms of personalities, that sort of thing), so why should fictional characters? If anything I'd rather them make it a little harder to romance companions in terms of your PC's personality just being one that grates on them, or something.

It's already like that in Dragon Age, there were decisions your PC could make that would shut down a romance cold, if not cause your companion to abandon you entirely. More so in the second game than first, though, where it was easier to ply hostile companions with gifts if you were shady like that (kinda glad they removed that mechanic).
