There's a whole subset of people who like bad films, OP. Here we have the "Night of Bad Taste" which is people basically going to the cinema for excerpts and trailers of really bad flicks. Your people are out there, OP.

I agree with part of this. I watch so many of Syfy's cheesy-as-hell original movies and enjoy them but Sharknado was just so godawful. I couldn't finish it. There are plenty more "so bad they're good" movies out there. I don't know why people latched onto that one.

That being said, none of the mega shark movies did much for me either.

Truly good bad movies only come from people who think they're making good movies. When people deliberately set out to make bad movies, they usually succeed beyond their wildest dreams.

Yeah, I own multiple "bad" scifi movies simply because they star Bruce Campbell, and will frequently stay up later than intended because I caught something on the syfy channel and have to see it through. Calling Sharknado the best of the worst is terrible.

I can't watch those bad Syfy films... not Sharknado, not most the others. It isn't even that I don't like questionable things, but...I guess they aren't for me.

The only ones I can remember liking were the Tremors series.

We watch ALL of SyFy's movies in my family, including Sharknado. We even had an extended family movie night for the second one. We enjoy almost everything that SyFy puts out "bad movie" wise...

I've not seen this movie(though I fell like I should) but even as someone who likes dumb movies I can't do the Sharknado movies, or the other SyFy ones. I just find them bad rather than entertaining.
terabient: Anime-styled profile pic that is kinda, sorta like me (Pokemon: Froakie - joyful)

OH MAN I LOVE THIS MOVIE like I actually watched the premiere at my brother's birthday party and it was fantastic. I haven't seen Sharknado but most of the shitty Sci-Fi/Syfy originals are just boring bad, not hilaribad, so I'm not surprised to hear Sharknado falls into that category as well.

Somewhat related--other Syfy originals I liked:
Alien Apocalypse (100% because of Bruce Campbell and Renee O'Conner)
Sharktopus

and ones I didn't (that I remember):
Boa vs Python
Mega Piranha
some movie about velociraptors coming back to life

Agreed. I watched Sharknado recently and the last few minutes where the best for me. The rest, not so much.

All y'all should go watch Cabin Fever or Thankskilling for some A-grade b-rated movies!

I feel like this is basically stupid. It's all bad. Everyone loses with this game.

My favourite terrible shark movie is still Shark Attack 3: Megalodon.

Weeeeeell, there are also bad monster B movies outside Syfy originals - Anaconda & its sequels comes to mind. As does Tremors. And outside the giant monster genre as well - I'm a fan of B grade horror and action, but have a real soft spot for B grade family/romance/holiday movies. Holiday in Handcuffs? Cinematic gold.

So basically, I agree with that people who like Sharknado and only Sharknado have just jumped on the bandwagon and aren't true connoisseurs of B grade. But I don't think people who just like Syfy original B grade are true connoisseurs either.

There's a world of shit movies out there for you to wallow in, people! Embrace it!

lol, are you the person that I talked to about Mega Shark vs Mecha Shark last week or is there another person on here who genuinely likes the Mega Shark movies? I haven't seen Mega Shark vs Crocosaurus yet (netflix doesn't have it :( ) but I still contend that Mega Shark vs Mecha Shark was surprisingly good and entertaining. Sure, it was cheesy, the special effects were awesomely hilarious and some of the actors were hammy as hell but Christopher Judge and Elisabeth Röhm really carried the film and had some great chemistry together. As weird as it is to say about a Syfy movie, they actually gave the film a lot of heart. Even their interactions with the AI system installed in Mecha Shark were adorable (and okay, fine, I might have gotten a little teary eyed at their happy reactions when they were able to salvage Nero from Mecha Shark after the end of the shark battle).

Jesus Christ, what is it with me and this movie...

Mega Shark 3 is my favorite, if only for John Barrowman's line about eating pussy.

Oooo B-movie snobbery :D the best kind of snobbery!

The crocosaurus was pretty epic. However, I think the pteracuda wins the most randomly awesome B-movie species mashup monster. FASTER THAN A JET DONTCHA KNOW.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-01 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Hm, wonder if Fingal made this secret.

But anyway, I agree. Sharknado was terrible. The second one was better though.

All Syfy movies are terribad.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-01 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
But they are fascinating in that any actor (good, bad, or indifferent) in them just gives a bad performance. It's probably the writing, even Charlton Heston (who was fabulous at delivering the cheesiest lines with conviction) would have trouble. I usually can't watch more than a few minutes of any of the Syfy movies, but I'm always amazed.

I couldn't even make it through Sharknado. There are entertaining bad movies, and there are boring bad movies. Sharknado was a boring bad movie trying way too hard to be an entertaining bad movie.

(Anonymous) 2014-09-01 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Man I thought the opposite... I loved Sharknado and hated Mega Shark vs. Crocosaurus. And I'm a huge fan of terrible but good horror movies. People have such different taste though you can never trust recommendations!
