That's insane.

The funny/weirdest thing was this girl who was horrified by the fact I called myself fat (which I am), but she thought I shouldn't say it about myself. I even ended up writing a column about that particular incident.

ayrt

That sounds like a good story. Is there any more to it?

Not really, except that this was apparently a live one (not an internet encounter), so this was all coupled with very baffled facial expressions on both ends. But looking back, this was the first time I really ran into the SJW mentality as such.

OH man. Something like this happened to me at Catholic church school when I was a teenager. We were doing some kind of icebreaking exercise where we all shared an adjective for ourselves that started with the same letter as our name.

I picked Abnormal A--------. Keep in mind I wasn't thinking of weird as an insult, just that I'm weird as hell. In high school you want to be weird, because what society tells kids should be normal is pretty fucked up and shallow.

Adults were Very Concerned but then at lunch the nice lady who was visiting came up to me and told me she got it now.

I had somewhat of an intervention about not fitting in at Catholic school.

Wow. I'm not sure that's better or worse than just constant bullying from adults and students like I got.

It didn't stop bullying, had a lot of victim blaming, and gives me second-hand embarrassment in retrospect.

..yeeah, I can see that. Sometimes I think I had one of the only decent ones. I once asked a trainee priest why girls can't be ordained and the church school teachers gave me thumbs up, not dirty looks. Abortion never came up. Giving to the poor? That did.
