Re: Stuff you disliked but look back on fondly?

Oh god, I was so bad at that game. I managed to beat it eventually, but ugh, it took forever. (To be fair, I don't think it was a terrible game, it just would've been more enjoyable for me if I had been better at it.)

Parts of Dragon Age, to be completely honest. And not even Dragon Age 2 (though that as well), but large sections of Origins. It's a brilliant game and I adore it, I really do, but there's a lot of it that feels tedious after the first time. The Fade in particular, ughhhhhh; I would rather stab myself in the leg with a fork than play through The Fade again. I was working on playing through the game again earlier this year (still haven't finished), but I did manage to get through all of the main quest-lines but Orzammar. (At one point during The Fade I actually said to myself, "Why do I enjoy this game again?") I'm not even 'fond' of any of the main quest-lines, but when I think about the game as a whole, I go, "It's so good". I don't understand my feelings.

The worst part is that someone linked me to this mod before, I couldn't find where I had bookmarked it, and I thought about googling but went, "But what if it screws up anything? I'll just do it again, it can't be as horrible as I remember.." and two hours into The Fade I wanted to throw my computer out a window. So...I'll definitely be using this next time. *sigh*

(Though your companions 'dreams' are fun, they aren't worth the visit. Nothing is worth it. Especially not you, Connor.)

I just retried playing it. Still terrible. :(

What is The Fade?

How can The Fade even be described to someone who has not experienced it? (It is like hell, basically. Hours and hours of fresh hell. I'm serious, I don't even have words; I would say watch a youtube playthrough, but please don't waste your time.)

Is it really hard or just tedious?

It's mostly just tedious. The most tedious thing you will ever experience. You wander around this ~otherworld~ where mages go when they sleep, needing to shift between different forms. It's very maze like because you can't go through certain areas until you unlock specific forms, and then you have to remember, "Oh, I need to go back there," and many of the areas look similar so it gets confusing fast. Not only that but you're separated from your party, so you don't even have any funny banter to listen to in the meantime, and it is just terrible. If it wasn't so long it wouldn't be a huge issue, but I spent...idek, maybe a couple hours in it? Apparently if you know exactly where to go you can get done in about half an hour, but that never happens to me.
