The only types of icons that I've judged in a fandom setting is if someone uses a photo of themselves. I don't really know why. It just comes off as sort of arrogant or narcissistic to me.

Ah, I've had that. On my personal twitter to be fair. But once I realized all I tweeted about was anime/tv/fandom stuff I changed it to an anime avatar. I'm a fandom account.
