That's the only problem with exchanges. I've never had that particular problem, but I've been asked to write things for people who want the opposite of what I'd be willing to write. It was really annoying when one fest was right after the release of the latest HP book, and I made it clear I wanted to write something exploring themes relating to the book. The person I got? "And in my head, nothing is canon past the fourth book." Great. (And why even sign up for a ficfest if you hate half the source material anyway?)
