The funny thing is she has four kids. Four. My bf and her youngest don't want kids, but her second specifically does and her third doesn't have strong feeling either way.

Point is, odds are very much in favor of her having grandkids. Just not from us.

Thing is, we already visit less because this sort of shit (she also nags at my bf to buy a house), but she's not getting the hint.

I hate that kind of behavior (doesn't matter if there are other kids or not), but if she has multiple children that makes it seem more...desperate? Pushing people to do something they don't want to do isn't going to make them change their mind, it's just going to make them disgusted with your behavior and push them farther away from you.

Maybe one day she will get the hint. If not, maybe she'll calm down if her second child has kids. Who knows...

In the meantime, I don't blame you guys for not spending much time with her.

Yeah, we'll see what the future holds. Thing is I'm generally on good terms with her. We're not friends, but generally polite to each other, give a present on Christmas etc. I've had perfectly fine conversations with her. But people being different to my face than behind my back just irk me.

A lot of people are like that, unfortunately. It's harder to be rude to someone's face then it is to say those critical things to someone else. Neither of those are great options, but it's unpleasant and awkward having to interact with people you know are feeling completely different than they let on.

Some parents have a very hard time letting go of the idea that their children are not extensions of themselves and will not do everything they want out of life. They're idiots. Having kids is good for some people, not good for others. If you don't want kids, you don't want kids and if you can't get her to understand that, your SO needs to have a sit-down talk with her, Serious Face and all. It has to come from him, if it doesn't, if it comes from you, she'll always hold onto the idea that it's you and not her son. He needs to be the one to disabuse her of that notion.
