Once you get the hang of it, it is VERY easy to navigate. And how wanky it is depends on how big the subreddit is. Avoid any that you are automatically subscribed to when you sign up (at least in regards to discussion).

The smaller subreddits are where you want to head for that. And there is a subreddit for just about anything.

Also, install Reddit Enhancement Suite.
