I was drinking a glass of Johnny Appleseed and noticed a fruit fly floating around in it. I thought about dumping it in the sink, but decided to fish the little guy out with a fork. He was still alive, but crawling a little more slowly around the fork as I set it down.

Apparently, little fruit flies love Johnny Appleseed.

They're drawn to the scent of apples and fermentation. They also like apple cider vinegar, and a good fruit fly trap is water with a splash of apple cider vinegar and a drop of dish soap. The fumes attract that, the dish soap breaks up surface tension of the water, and the little bastards drown.

I have a fruit-fly trap that's been working for a while now, and now and then I pick it up and gloat over all the little corpses.

I had my entire music collection on shuffle yesterday and it jumped from "Snakes on a Plane" to "The Art of the Dress" from My Little Pony. Two very different breeds of pop-culture novelty song, there.
